In passing...

I was early for a date once with an ex boyfriend. Had to meet him for drinks and supper in Melville, anyway, walking around aimlessly is not really my thing so I decided to go chill in a dark corner in a chilled spot as not to look a loner.

I chilled at a spot called Ratz on 7th Avenue, very mellow and the have fantastic interior features...had me going gaga over the pressed ceilings

and the columns on black giving the classical a modern twist (pun intended)

I love personalized details...this place is so hard rock n roll, lol

You can check it out : Ratz

fresher than fresh!!!!!!!

Wow, it's been a minute since I showed this blog love but hey...life happened so forgive me. Yes, we are still Jozified and I'm still loving this city. By Lawd, it's a beautiful morning today, the Big Guy really outdid himself.

Jozi weather went all Cape town on us a while back, with rains everyday and funkiness but today this week has been BEAUTIFUL, with sunny skies and butterflies. Allowing me to hit the streets. Spent a bit of time in Orange Grove this week, cool place...chilled out, had great company (story for another blog though). This visit allowed me to check out Jozi after dark, which is always awesome if you know the right people. I finally went to go see Foreplay showing at the Market theatre in Newtown which was amazing.

We got some talented folk here. The play is hectic!!!! lovely, well written, the characters are well portrayed and leaves you shocked, kinda uncomfortable but a little more knowledgeable than when you went in, thought provoking stuff. A must see, it's running from til the 14th of March so hurry get your tickets.

In other news, I got a very interesting email about a very cool place to live in Joburg. I swear this is my future address...give me a couple of months, just hope the units won't be sold out by then. Main Street Life is hott!!!!! I plan to check it out soon and will post pics asap. In the mean time you guys can check out the site, see the link

"Main Street Life sees the transformation of a 1970s industrial building into a mixed use complex offering residential studios, retail shops, a rooftop events venue and a boutique hotel.
The development is designed to inspire creativity and innovation."

Other very cool sites to check out if you wanna know what's up and happening in Jozi

What is Jobusy?

"Johannesburg doesn't instantly confront you with her beauty. Here you have to dig for the gold. It's been that way for the last twelve decades now... And much like the place itself, the people have a fortune to offer you. The way to connect with the real Johannesburg is through those who live, work, create and play here. Jobusy is hell-bent on getting you hooked up with these people - and they're happy to be your guides. The planet will never feel lonely again if you leave it up to Jobusy."

Jozi streets, buildings and people. This is a graffitti wall in Newtown.

you gotta love the way it's always busseling
the stick nasty stench of the street corners makes you feel alive.

There are gems hidden in all that greyness...open your eyes.

(PS: many thanks to the good folk who took these pics. I cannot claim them but will try my hand at photography at later posts
